Figure Skater Asada Mao Enters The Guinness World Records

Figure Skater Asada Mao(19) was recognized on Monday by the Guinness World Records for landing three triple axels at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

Asada is only the third female Japanese skater to be recognize by the world records. The other two female skaters to be listed are Ito Midori and Ando Miki.

During the Winter Olympics earlier this year Asada won the silver medal behind Korea’s Kim Yu-Na. Last month at the World Figure Skating Championships Asada was able to take the gold.

Takahashi Daisuke also of Japan won gold in the World Championship men’s competition. He took the bronze at the Vancouver Olympics.

Asada’s triple axel record will be published in the 2011 edition of the Guinness World Records book.
